It is with great pleasure to nominate Andrew Bell as Student of
the Month for February.
During the month of February, Andrew Bell has gone above and
beyond what other people would do not only on HGB, but also in other
areas of Goodnow Hall. As President of the Goodnow Community Service
Club, Andrew spent a lot of time organizing a Penny War to raise money
for Habitat for Humanity: The House that K-State Built. Not only did
Andrew take the time to get two costumes donated for the winning
Resident Assistant’s, but he also spent time encouraging people to
donate money to a worthy cause as well as spending time every night
counting the money that was raised to display a running total at the
front desk.
Secondly, this month Andrew received a phone call from a CA on
duty asking him if he was a tour guide because the CA couldn’t find the
tour-guide list. Even though Andrew had never given a tour before, he
gladly volunteered to take on the task of giving a tour. Because he
not only did an excellent job of giving one tour, he has been called
several times to give tours and has been placed on the top of our list.
Although Andrew does not have a voting position on our HGB, he
regularly attends the meetings giving his thoughts and views on items
that are being discussed. During February, when an ARH position opened
up and didn’t get filled, Andrew volunteered his time to help represent
Goodnow Hall at ARH meetings. Because of this, he was also part of a
smoking resolution in Residence Halls, which was very important in that
it was his vote that represented me and other non-smokers of Goodnow
Hall. In fact, Andrew has enjoyed ARH so much, that he is currently
running for the ARH position for next year.
Andrew enjoys taking on the challenge of helping people with
their computer problems. When I’ve talked to him about computer
problems he is always willing to share his expertise to someone who
doesn’t always know what they are doing. He is also one that will not
only tell you how to fix the problem, but he will stop what he is doing
and go show you how to fix it. In fact, Andrew installed my CD re-
writeable drive, and has also helped many other people on our floor
with their computer problems.
Even though Andrew stays very active in HGB and other
activities, he still finds time to help organize other non-campus
events. For example, Andrew is currently the Logistics Coordinator
for the first ever National 4-H Technology Conference in which he has
been spending a great deal of time to plan. Also, because of his
National 4-H Technology Team experience, he is currently working on
starting a Kansas 4-H Technology Team.
As an incoming freshman this year, I believe that Andrew Bell
is on of the most responsible, outgoing, and positive role models in
Goodnow Hall. He sets high goals and doesn’t stop until he achieves
them and has been a vital asset to the sixth floor. He not only stays
positive, but also has a big influence on people. It just amazes me
that Andrew was able to do all that as well as stay caught up with his
classes in the month of February, but that just shows you how
responsible he is. I believe that Andrew Bell is a very deserving
recipient of the February Student of the Month Award.
