“We are all one big happy family.” That is what one resident said
describing Shoemaker Halls F floor community. The guys that live on F
floor are more than just neighbors; they are friends and fellow
students. Because of this the F floor residential community stood out
in the month of February as a great place to live. The resident’s
doors were usually open when they were around. They often eat together
and even created an intramural floor dodge ball team. These are just a
few of the ways in which F floor has achieved greatness in the month
of February. While walking down the hallway of F floor on a typical night in
February it is full of life. Many residents leave their doors open
when they are in their rooms watching television or playing video
games. This makes it more inviting for other residents to come join
them. However, when quite hours come at 10pm, the doors go shut. This
is so that they don’t disturb others who may be trying to sleep or
study. The lounge on the floor is another place where residents are
often seen studying together. Another notable thing about the F floor residential community in
the month of February was that many of the residents went to eat
together. Of course the once weekly floor dinners are a huge success
with many of the residents attending. However, even when there is not
a scheduled floor dinner, the residents still eat together and sit in
the same area at the dinning center. This helps to make the dinning
experience more enjoyable when you have other people to talk with. Another outstanding thing in the month of February was a floor
intramural dodge ball team that was created. Many of the guys that
live on F floor love to stay active and have fun. Because of this they
decided to get together and make a dodge ball team so that they could
play together. Throughout the month of February they played at least 2
games each week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The team had lots of fun
and only lost one game in February. What makes it even more fun is
there are a couple other teams in the league with Shoemaker Hall
residents on them. This makes the games even more fun for when they
play and win. In the end, the residential community of Shoemaker Hall F Floor
has gone above and beyond some other communities on campus in the
month of February. The residents continue to leave their doors open
when they are around as the semester goes on. Residents also go to eat
together and make the floor dinners a success. To cap it off, there is
a floor dodge ball team that has lots of fun and helps to bring the
community together. So with that in mind, F floor has persevered in
the month of February.
