Benjamin Watson, is one of the most dedicated & passionate RA's I've
ever had the pleasure of working with & supervising. He is a 3rd year RA
who runs one of the largest floors on Towson's Campus and oversees 75
residents. Ben is always willing to help out a co-worker & will switch
shifts or help out whenever he can. He has a great relationship with his
residents & was even voted as RA of the Month for the Building by all of
the residents in Towson Run. Even though March was cut short due to
Spring Break, Ben still managed to go above & beyond in the residence
hall. During the beginning of the month RA's were tasked with handing
out 120 question survey's and Ben managed to collect an astounding 96%.
A week later his splatter De-Stresser painting program was a great
stress relief to those dealing with mid-terms and a few days later his
Speed Monopoly educational event to work with students on budget
management & taxes was one of the most popular educational events we've
seen in the building over the past few years. Ben was also one of the
first RA’s to ever propose & create a session specifically for an
opportunity to help other RA’s earn Professional Development Credits (a
requirement we have of all of our returning RA’s to attend sessions to
help prepare them for life beyond RA & College). On top of it all, at
the beginning of every month Ben makes baked goods & hand delivers them
to the RA’s on duty. Outside of the Residence Hall Ben also has his hands in a plethora of
things, he's a Senior taking 18 credit hours as well as working a 10
hour a week internship, all in preparation for his graduation in the
fall with a Bachelor's in Human Resource Management. In addition to the
RA job, classes & his internship Ben also facilitates the weekly
Boardroom Sessions for the Towson University's Associate Competition, he
is the active President of the Society for Human Resources Management
Club on campus, and over Spring Break instead of vacationing he
represented Towson University at a conference at Clemson University, AND
as if he didn’t have enough on his plate he proposed, created, organized
& facilitated (on 3/28) an HR Panel of Professionals to assist students
in his major to get a better understanding of the HR realm after
graduation. As you can see Ben is constantly thinking of others & ways to help in
whatever way he can – which in general is fantastic but especially on a
staff of 6 is phenomenal. Mentioned earlier, Ben’s dedication and
passion towards not only the RA position but everything he does is
infectious. The staff of Towson Run & myself hold him in the highest
esteem & it is my privilege to be able to supervise him. It is without a
question of a doubt that I nominate Benjamin Watson for RA of the month.
