Please explain the outstanding contributions of the nominee during the month of nomination

I am happy to write this OTM for Matt Jaskel. Currently Matt serves as the Resident Director in Berks Hall. This is Matt's first year as an RD and he has done an excellent job. Through his work and commitment to his students, Matt has been able to build an solid foundation for the community of his residence hall starting with the sense of team he has been able to foster and develop amongst his staff. The community within in Berks Hall has been able to grow and develop through the rapport Matt has been able to establish with his residents. He has made himself available to the individuals living within is his hall and is ever present within in the building, walking the halls and atending programs and events. MAtt has provided the residents residiing in Berks with a plethora for enhancing their leadership skills thorugh his commitment and dedication to the Berks Hall Council in his role as advisor.

Although Matt has done an excellent job all year round, he has really shined during the month of March. In March Matt has been essential to the success of two large scale programs that will be taking place on Kutztown's campus. For the past 6 years Kutztown University has hosted the Race Against Racism which is a 5K where all the proceeds raised form the race are donted to the local Boys and Girl's Club. MAtt is the advisor for the Race Against Racism Committee this year and has worked very closely with the group to get the event off the ground. In the month of March alone, Matt has helped them to fundraise to off set the cost of the event. He has walked the streets of Kutztown with his committee asking local vendors and businesses for donations. Matt has attended numerous meetings on campus to solicite contributions from other campus constituents. Matt also spent every Tuesday and Thursday in the month of MArch sitting with his students in the Student Union Building selling wrist bands and promoting the Race.

In addition to his work with the Race Against Racism, Matt has also worked very closely with a new event that will be taking place on campus this year, Bats For Boobies. Bats For Boobies is a softball tournamnet involving current students and alumni. All proceeds from this event will be given to breast cancer research. Matt has served as the advisor to the student who came up with the idea for the event. He has used his experience to help guide her through the process of getting a new tradition off the ground. During March , Matt has worked with Tara to come up with the rules and guidelines for the tournament, advertising, and ordering gear. He ahs also assisted her in soliciting sponosrship to offset the cost of the event.

Matt is an essential part of the Kutztown University community. While running his hall, serving as the advisor for two large campus events, and taking classes, Matt still finds the time each week to attend the meetings of the Residence Hall Association as well as the meetings of our NRHH Chapter. He also is a faciliator in the LeaderShape program, a leadership development program for elementary school students that meets each week with 25 fifth graders. The impact that he has had on current as well as future leader is imeasurable. He has been able to use his experience and passion to influence others and is very deserving of this recognition.
