During the month of march, the graduate assistant for the Village at
Centennial Square here at San Francisco State University has gone up
and beyond in efforts to help support his staff. This means that Andy
helps the resident assistants plan their programs and supports the RAs
as much as possible. Throughout the year the Village has seen various
different Area Coordinators but Andy has been the constant the staff
needed so much. With Andy’s help, the staff has become the close knit
group that it is now. Within the last month Andy has become more and
closer with the staff and he has expressed to the staff that he truly
enjoys working along with every one of the staff. Last week during our
staff meeting, it was Andy’s idea to have a Tea Party and have a break
from business and have a craft day in which we all decorated a frame
that will be used for a staff picture. Since Andy is a graduating from his program this year he has been
working hard on his thesis paper. During a staff meeting he asked for
our help because he did not have enough people to interview for his
paper, which is about the availability and options for vegetarian or
vegan youths in K-12 grade, and asked if we knew anyone who had
experience being in that category. At this time I expressed to Andy
that I could help since I became vegan during my junior year of high
school. Through this experience I had the pleasure of spending more
time with Andy and discovered that he is very easy to open up to. I would like to nominate Andy because he is very approachable and is
always willing to help his staff formulate the best programs for the
community. I have found that Andy is such a great person to talk to
about diversity topics because he does not judge just helps educates.
He is just such a great person to have on a staff because he adds so
much positive energy.
