Please explain the outstanding contributions of the nominee during the month of nomination

March is a crazy month around the residence halls in Utah. The weather doesn’t know if it wants to be winter, summer, or spring and the month is half shorter due to spring break. But we know one thing here; Brittany Snyder was definitely an incredible student this month, rain, sun, snow, and/or shine! Between programming for her residents, organizing stellar Student Leader Council meetings, supporting her fellow E.Board members, and being awarded the most prestigious university honor award, Britney had a mad (in the best way) March! Brittany is an incredible candidate for student of the month through all that she has accomplished this short March month.

For Student Leader Council, Brittany organized several amazing meetings and, with March being extra short, that made every meeting special! For the first meeting Brittany organized a smoothie night with fresh fruit, peanut butter, chocolate syrup, and nutella. Student Leaders enjoyed fresh smoothies while approving funds for upcoming programs. For the next meeting, Brittany worked hard in the kitchen for 3 hours before, preparing an extra special treat. She got a recipe for delicious crepes and provided fresh strawberries, bananas, cream cheese, honey, cinnamon, and more nutella! The crepes were a hit and none were left by the end of the meeting. In the shout-outs to outstanding student leaders following that meeting there were numerous notes thanking Brittany for the unique homemade treat. Student leaders truly appreciated the personal touch Brittany put into these special meetings.

Over the course of March, our RHA has also had its own “March madness” in terms of the grand scale events put on by the programming board. The first event was a Sunday night movie showing of New Years Eve, complete with a countdown gift raffle of 55 prizes ranging from $15 gift cards to an iPad 3. The movie, food, and prizes drew in a much larger crowd than we had originally anticipated and Brittany stepped in to help manage the event. Brittany helped raffle tickets, set up food, and regulate the doors after the event had begun. The event was a huge success, due greatly to Brittany’s calm composure and on the spot contributions.

The second huge event that Brittany contributed to in RHA was the distribution of free tickets to Disneyland for the first 35 residents to line up. This event was advertised throughout the residence halls and attracted a huge number of residents. Residents began lining up at 8AM for tickets not to be distributed until 1pm. Under pressure, Brittany devised a method to most efficiently and fairly divvy out the tickets. She established a numbering system that kept residents happy and organized and it helped to solve arising issues. Brittany’s help made the entire process smoother.

In addition to her leadership roles, Brittany is an outstanding student, which was clearly demonstrated in March. She applied to be in the University’s most distinguished honor society, the Beehive Society, and was selected as 1 of 12 students representing the entire university population. Each inductee represents 1000 graduating students and induction into this society is on of the highest honors achievable at the university. At the ceremony, the President of the University commended Brittany on her achievements in Exercise and Sports Science as well as in Health and Nutrition.

Brittany is constantly coming up with new ideas to improve student leader council meetings, she adds tremendously to all RHA and other events she contributes to, and she strives always for academic excellence. For all her accomplishments in these areas in the month of March, she makes an excellent student of the month!
