The Upsilon Nu Chi Chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary has had an amazing National Residence Hall Month. This is the University of Northern Colorado's first time participating in National Residence Hall Month (NRHM) and this charge was led by NRHH.

The NRHH began its NRHM celebrations on April 1st, when 11 new members were inducted into the organization. This is our largest induction class in the last 4 years! This included our induction of 2 honorary members (making a total of 3 this academic year), a number that we have not accomplished in several years. Several NRHH alumni members were attendance, including our Director of Housing Operations and a member of our Housing & Residential Education Adminstrative Staff.

Our Induction ceremony included recognition of our members including: Inducting Members into NACURH's Diamond Dean's List (including our entire executive board), OTMMYs (OTM awards for the best OTMs this academic year), and the NRHH member with the most OTMs submitted. We also corded members who were becoming alumnis of the organization.

Later that week on April 7th, 5 NRHH members participated in a service opportunity. The Servive Project included working with the Poudre Learning Center. The Poudre Learning Center is an educational organization that teaches about the importance of the Poudre River in the Greeley community. NRHH members wanted plants, weeded invasive species, and learned how to build a fire. The Service Project ended with a barbeque over a fire pit. This was a great scholastics and service program for our members.

A few days later on April 9th, NRHH sponsored a campus-clean up for the Residence Hall Association General Council. After cleaning up trash for an hour participants got to enjoy ice-cream treats.

For Advocacy Week our NRHH members proposed to the Department of Housing & Residential Education (HRE) a meal-plan option for our Student Staff members. This meal-plan if approved would give student staff the opportunity to pick between two meal plans--one with greater meals or one with greater dining dollars. Although our organization was comended on our proposal, it was unfortunately not considered feasible for the next year. Student Staff of the HRE Department appreciated the effort though.

For Recognition Week we recognized all the members of our HRE Family! We took photos of all the Hall Staffs and had them developed. Often times Hall Staffs struggle with the end of the year and the end of their staff. We hoped that by making a photo keepsake for every student staff member they would feel recognized. Every Professional Staff member recieved a fancy University Pen or Mug from NRHH, and NRHH set-up a brunch of Einstien's bagels, fruit, and orange juice for the custodial staff.

Recognition Week had a huge impact on our recognition but also on our visibility within our own department.

On our April 15 meeting, our organization even made Candy-grams to recognize someone in their life. I was suprised by my organization when they presented me with flowers and thanked me for being President.

At this same meeting we elected two vice-presidents for next year's Executive Board. Our other two Vice-President positions were filled later that week via application. This is our first Spring with a full E-Board for the following year.

On April 26th we hosted a campus-wide trivia bowl. Students paired up jeopardy style. Winners recieved UNC swag. This was a great program for us as it was one of our first programs where non-NRHH members were in attendance! It was also one of our first successful scholastic programs.

This month has also saw the completion of our bid for NRHH Building Block of the Year, a wonderful opportunity and honor for us.
