Please explain the outstanding contributions of the nominee during the month of nomination

Alyssa Long is a Desk Receptionist in Rothermel Hall at Kutztown University. Alyssa has come a long way in terms of growing not only in her position as a Desk Receptionist, but also as a person throughout this year. She deserves to be recognized as a Desk Receptionist of the Month for the month of April.

I have had the privilege of working with Alyssa this year on Rothermel Hall's staff. I wanted to write an Of the Month for her in April so that I could reflect back on all of the accomplishments that Alyssa has had. Looking back to August, Alyssa was still quiet, but anyone could tell that she was ready to learn her position as a Desk Receptionist and take that head on. She did more than just that. Out of all the Desk Receptionists in Rothermel Hall, Alyssa helps out the rest of the staff the most. She helps them by taking as many shifts as she can to help people out and offering her shifts to those that help her out so that hours can be even. She is very reliable and anyone can depend on her to get her work done in a timely and efficient manner. She is very responsible, is always on time for her shifts, and always helps to keep the desk organized and clean as best she can. Alyssa also displays great customer service skills to all of the residents. She is always a friendly face that the residents are able to depend on when they walk through the doors. She has come a long way since she first started her position here, and she was hired as the second floor girls Community Assistant for next year and I cannot wait to see what she can and will accomplish next year with that position.

Throughout this year, Alyssa served in the Fall 2011 semester as the Secretary of Hall Council and this semester she served as the Vice President of Hall Council. She always brings so much energy and excitement to every Hall Council meeting. She participates in the events that are advertised at each meeting as well. She helps out with as many preview days, which consist of taking prospective Kutztown students around the campus and showing them around to open dorm rooms in each hall. Alyssa also served on the Race Against Racism committee as part of the socials committee. She did a fantastic job selling Race Against Racism bracelets, promoting the race, and she did awesome the day of the event as well. Alyssa also has a heavy courseload as an art student. She can always be found working on an art project or projects for her other classes as well. Although she is very involved on campus and has a lot of work to do in her classes, she never complains, but she can instead be seen interacting with the residents and other staff members.

Alyssa Long has truly come a long way since she started as a Desk Receptionist in Rothermel Hall in August until now. It is amazing how much a person can change for the better, and there is no better way to truly look back on the change throughout the year than to reflect on that in the month of April. This is why Alyssa is so deserving of an Of the Month for the month of April as an outstanding Desk Receptionist and as a member of Kutztown's campus!
