Please explain the outstanding contributions of the nominee during the month of nomination

I am pleased to nominate Elyse Pincus as RA of the month. Even as a graduating senior who is extremely busy with extracurricular activities like Camp Wildcat and Rho Alpha Sigma, she still takes the time to go the extra mile and serve as a role model to the entire staff. It may be a generalization to say this, but many RA’s stop putting their full effort as the year nears its close. However, in her last full month as an RA, Elyse has helped organize three programs! Since Elyse is one of the few people on the staff who has a car, she is always the one to go shopping for the programs. With two team programs going on in April, Elyse always had to check out the P-card and coordinate times with others to take everyone shopping.

The first program of the month was about Course Registration where residents could come with their questions about UAccess and classes and get them answered by a team of 4 RAs. There was also a “build your own trail mix” bar which was a hit with residents! While the attendance was on the lower side, a majority of the residents that came down were Elyse’s residents, which illustrates her effective advertising skills and good relationships in her wing.

The second program was about Leadership in which residents took a quiz to find what color their personality was and then tie-dyed their shirt what colors they felt best represented them as leaders. If you knew Elyse, you’d know that she’s an expert/enthusiast when it comes to anything camp or outdoors-related, so of course, Elyse knew all about tie-dye. She mixed all the dyes and instructed everyone how to roll up the shirt and create their desired design. Throughout the event, she assured everyone that there is absolutely no way to ruin tie-dye, even as many people were getting their hands dyed green and the shirts looked like dripping, colored messes. Elyse’s enthusiasm was palpable throughout the whole program as she scrambled to dye as many shirts as she could and help everyone along the way. Elyse was also instrumental in coordinating our staff’s outfits for the RA banquet. The plan was to wear bowties and moustaches, but after going to a few shops, Elyse was only able to find costume bowties. We looked super classy though.

Although some other RAs have cars, Elyse is always the first to volunteer to drive anybody anywhere. She has driven people to the airports and is always the go-to person to ask for a ride to the store for a program. However, the real reason why Elyse deserves RA OTM is because of her constant optimism and genuine personality. As she is graduating in May, she is sure to go on to many exciting adventures in her life, but she will be dearly missed by Apache. She is simply “The Best.”
