Please explain the outstanding contributions of the nominee during the month of nomination

Conferences serve to empower and inform those that attend them, creating unforgettable experiences and lasting connections. Yet, few talk about the people behind the scenes. The people that make every room perfect for every guest. The people that are on call 24/7 in case a guest needs something. The people that work tirelessly to make sure every person that comes to the University Of Akron has the best experience possible. These people are the Summer Conference Staff.

A small group of only 25, carefully selected from a large pool of applicants, is responsible for any and all prep work needed for summer conferences, and the month of May is one of the busiest of the conference season in regards to prep work. In one month, they've made too many bulletin boards to count, made every bed on campus using over 2200 pillows, and tested every single outlet in every room.

On top of being extremely diligent workers, the Summer Conference Staff has come together as a team. Even though over half of the group is brand new to the staff this year and at least a fifth have never had any experience is Residence Life and Housing, their supervisor, Lisa Wray, has commented on how impressed she is with their closeness. They "eat, live, and breathe with each other." Where some groups would find that much time together less than bearable, the Summer Conference Staff thrives in that environment. They have even gone as far as to form a softball team in the intramural league on campus. Known as the LK Rays 2.0, Lisa Wray has proudly emphasized that the team has yet to be defeated in a game.

The Summer Conference Staff has been a glowing example of what every team should be. Over the course of May, they have proven to be hard-working, united as a team, and simply unbeatable on and off the softball field.
