Please explain the outstanding contributions of the nominee during the month of nomination

I would like to nominate Marissa Williams, Residential Life Coordinator, as the Residential Life staff member of the month for April. Marissa has been with us for just over 6 months now and has immediately made an impact on our staff. She is constantly volunteering her time to anyone who needs it and takes on new projects without any type of prompting from anyone. One example of this was her leadership in hosting and planning a End of the Year banquet for our Peer Advisors ("RAs"). Our department had not done anything like this for our student staff in the past couple of years and Marissa took in upon herself to make sure that the staff was properly recognized for all the hard work that they have shown over the past year even though it was originally planned not to occur. Marissa completely made the banquet her own and got professional staff to dress up as old Hollywood characters in support of the theme she created for the event. When everyone got to the event, it was totally decked out in Old Hollywood theme including a photo booth and decorations that really made it feel glamorous. During and after the event all I heard from my staff was how fun the event was and how nice it felt to be appreciated by the department. This really is just one example of the many things that Marissa does on a regular basis to make people feel recognized both in our department and on campus in general. Whether it is volunteering to lead focus groups for our new upperclassmen community, or jumping in at any event she attends to lend a helping hand, Marissa has become an invaluable asset to our department. On a professional staff level, Marissa is also planning a "hello to summer" event for just us coordinators to get to mingle since we don't often have the chance to do during the rush of the school year. I know that I can always count on Marissa to have a smile on her face and can trust to her to complete any task that is given to her. This is even more amazing given this is Marissa's first "professional" position out of graduate school. Whether it is dealing and caring for sick residents (one of which who needed constant care given his seizure episodes) like she had to do a lot this month or coming up with new ideas for us to do as a department, Marissa ALWAYS gives 110% and this month particularly exemplifies what it meant to be an awesome professional staff member!
