Kat Scott is the one returning Resident Assistant in my building, Wood
Hall, this year. She has been doing an amazing job all semester of
helping the other two (new) RAs to program, motivate and bond with
their residents. She has also been an immense source of "Windsor
Information" for me, since I have never worked in Windsor before, and
it is a very unique building. Kat has a whole motivational system for
her residents, giving out "Kat Bucks" for attending programs, helping
her to plan events, and for general involvement in building the
community from the "front lines" as only residents can do. Her
programs are phenomenal, even the small ones, and she consistently
goes above and beyond the call of duty, in every way possible.
However, Kat's programming is not necessarily the reason that I
believe that she deserves to be recognized as an outstanding Resident
Assistant. Kat is planning on attending medical school next fall, and
is graduating in May in order to get herself prepared to go off on
such a big endeavor. Although she has tough classes and now has to
deal with "senioritis" and the trauma of leaving somewhere that you
have grown and learned for the past several years, earlier than was
expected, Kat has not skipped a beat as an RA. I am impressed with
her continued professionalism, enthusiasm, and self-driven, selfless
attitude towards the job. Kat has also talked to me a great deal
about how she plans to prepare her floor for the incoming, most likely
brand-new RA that will take over her position in January. This is
especially salient for me, since I was a mid-year hire, and would have
benefitted greatly from a floor with such a great community already
built, as well as notes, bulletin boards, and other resources left
behind for me specifically from the former RA.
Kat Scott is an amazing Resident Assistant, and she always has been,
but I feel that with her persistent committment and enthusiasm, in the
face of her graduation in mere weeks, she deserves to be recognized
for her unwavering dedication to her residents, her building, and
Purdue. Word Count: 358
