Jaclyn Myers is an outstanding freshman resident on my floor.
Although her classes keep her very busy, she serve as Floor Senator,
and as such, is actively involved in the floor and strives to get
others involved as well. This was readily apparent in her recent
efforts to get girls from the floor involved in an All-Hall program
called the Old Masters Dinner. Windsor Hall and Wiley Hall recently hosted the Old Masters Dinner, a
chance for residents to have dinner with a distinguished Purdue
alumnus. However, not many girls from Windsor Hall were signing up
for the event. When Jaclyn became aware of this, she took it upon
herself to get girls from our floor to attend the dinner. She went
door-to-door and explained the event to the other girls, collecting
the names of girls who wanted to attend. The night of the dinner, she
helped me remind girls about the event, calling several girls to
ensure they still planned to attend. Due to Jaclyn's efforts, almost
half of the girls who attended the dinner were from our floor. I was very impressed with Jaclyn's motivation and willingness to step
up and make sure the event was a success. Had Jaclyn not worked so
hard to get the other girls involved, I doubt anyone from my floor
would have attended the dinner. Jaclyn has been a tremendous asset to
me this year, and this situation is a perfect example of how she is
positively impacting the floor. Therefore, I am nominating Jaclyn
Myers for First Year Student of the Month. Word Count: 261
