I have really been impressed by Stalnaker 4th Floor. The way the
community has grown has been simply mindblowing. To start off, all
residents have formed strong ties with each other. Most floors are
divided into groups but this floor is extremely social and they all
interact with each other. They often sit in the hallway as a floor and
simply talk, sometimes they sing and dance, making fun videos. They
will dress up and act out scenes or make music videos as a floor.
Program attendance is always almost 100%. Whenever floor dinners are
planned, I can count on all residents to show up and sometimes we have
our floor dinner in the floor hallway. We simply make our own food, sit
there and eat it together. By mere observation, you would think that
because everyone gets along so well, that they have very similar
interests or characteristics but on the contrary, the floor is very
diverse. There is a calender of birthdays on the floor and birthdays
are always celebrated as a community. The residents always look out for one another and I am always impressed
by how they offer each other rides and over breaks take those who live
far away such as the international students or residents from Idaho,
California and so on back home. They have also done a great job helping
the International students on my floor to adapt. Perhaps the most interesting fact is that there has not been a single
roomate conflict or even a mere complaint to the RA. This is quiet
perculiar for a first year hall. After lights out too, all residents go
to their rooms and the RA seldom ever has to ask people to be quiet.
Another impressive fact is that the floor has only had 2 Informational
IR's as compared to over 10 from each floor on most first year halls. Stalnaker 4th floor has made me love being an RA. they are funa nd
social and show up to programs yet they never have anything to complain
about. I truly believe that this floor needs to be recognized for the
kind of community that they have built. They are really exceptional and
I wish it were possible for me to keep this floor exactly the way it is
for their sophomore year. Word Count: 387
