Please explain the outstanding contributions of the nominee during the month of nomination

September has been a terrific month for Putnam 3rd Floor girls. We started this month off with a bang when we planned the Open Doors Open Hearts week from September 8th-11th. This program was a 4 day long program where I (Alaina) went from door to door 3 times a day at different times to see who had their doors open. If the ladies had their doors open they got a cheesy little kid sticker with an animal on it to put on their door hangers that I provided to advertise the program. The program was a huge hit, especially because of the stickers. The new girls were blown away by how fun it is to keep their doors open. Some of the girls opened their doors for the first time and were surprised to see how many people just wanted to say hi. I think that we will have to resurrect it sometime later in the semester. In the middle of the Open Doors Open Hearts week we had our Academic Orientation-PJ style on Wednesday. The girls came to the Putnam lobby dressed in comfy duds and slippers. We played PJ Party Jeopardy and talked about resources for academics on campus. The girls had a good time playing and asking questions of the RAMA staff that were present. This program was a success because Putnam 3 girls got to mingle with each other and the Putnam 1 girls. This event showed me that the returning students on Putnam 3 really do have an interest in getting to know the underclassman. This is a great thing and will help build a stronger community in the future. We wrapped up this program week on Friday with a program called “Shaken or Churned??” The Putnam 3rd floor HGB girls helped to plan this program, giving it the catchy name and helping to get a resident to help me plan it. One of my residents Sam Lyman is a Chemistry Major and she wanted to share the chemistry behind making ice cream in a bag. She explained the process that the rock salt takes chemically to make the milk cold and frozen to make ice cream. This was the best way get residents involved on the floor. What better way to get to know each other than over a bag of freshly shaken ice cream. The party was a blast! I think that Putnam 3 girls have done a fantastic job this month at jumping out of their boxes to meet new people and to be involved with other girls on the floor.
