Krystal Ridley is one of the best Housing and Dining custodial workers
that I've met. Getting to know Krystal has inspired me to be more
upbeat
in both school and work. Always wearing a smile on her face and
willing
to strike up a friendly conversation, Krystal has a positive outlook
on
life even though she has to do some unpleasant tasks in her job. The
day
that I got to know Krystal better was when she was cleaning the
bathrooms
in the first floor boys wing. One of our toilets was out of order so
I
asked her why it wasn't working. Her reply was, “It sprays water every
where. Let me show you”. She then proceeded to flush the toilet with,
“Watch out,” as her only warning. A water fountain had officially
taken
the place of one of the toilets in the bathroom of Marlatt Hall. Water
sprayed out of the top of the toilet from every angle. The hilarity of
the
moment had us both laughing uncontrollably. After we both controlled
ourselves, Krystal's father—the head maintenance person—came in and
fixed
the toilet. I believe that being able to laugh in potentially
irritating
circumstances like an overflowing toilet is what make Krystal a great
custodial worker and an inspiring role model on having a positive
outlook
on life. Word Count: 220
