| Origin of Program: During the month of February, Winthrop Unviersity celebrated "Wellness
Month." Led by Health and Counseling Services, programs were
scheduled campus-wide to educate students on multiple aspects of
wellness. In an effort to bring Wellness education into the hall,
these RAs chose to put on a series of programs that would focus on
wellness.Word Count: 53 |

| Please give a short description of the program: Over the month of February, the RAs organized three related programs
that focused on Wellness. On Tuesday, February 9th, a Residence Life professional staff member
came to the hall for a program entitled "Sleep Better, Feel
Better." This program educated residents on the beneifts of sleep,
as well as touching upon sleep disorders and the impact of sleeping
drugs. Residents were educated on ways to get better sleep and the
positive impact sleep can play. The session also provided residents
with practical applications and relaxation techniques. On Wednesday, February 17th, another Residence Life professional
staff member led a PiYo program for residents. This program, which
lasted approximately 1 hour, combined Yoga and Pilates techniques.
PiYo was a great work-out for the residents, and also provided
stress relief. Finally, on Wednesday, February 24th, Professor Danne Kasparek came
to the residence hall for a Smoothie program. Dr. Kasparek educated
residents on healthy eating and living a healthy lifestyle. The
reisdents, along with the RAs, made smoothies which are a healthy
snack. Word Count: 169 |

| Short evaluation of the program: Overall, this series program was extremely successful. Residents
greatly enjoyed the events and turn-out for each of the events was
strong. Residents gained great tips on how to stay healthy and
maintain a balanced lifestyle. It allowed them a break from their
studying/classes, while providing them with a positive way to spend
their time. And, the smoothies were delicious!Word Count: 59 |

| How could this program be adapted to other campuses? This program could easily be adapted to other campuses. The key to
making this program successful was finding resources on campus that
could assist the RAs in educating residents. These resources often
exist on other campuses in the Rec. Center, Health and Counseling,
Wellness Center, Residence Life professionals, faculty members,
etc. Word Count: 51 |
