| Origin of Program: Following the success of the Fall Festival last semester, Hall Council
looked for a way to re-create a successful event filled with fun
activities held on the front lawn of our building. After much
brainstorming, the Hall Council created the Spring Festival, which would
celebrate the season with crafts and activities for all residents to
participate in.Word Count: 57 |

| Please give a short description of the program: The Spring Festival was held on a Thursday evening between 5 pm and 7
pm and set up so residents could participate in one or all of the
activities. Throughout the front lawn, different stations were set up
with various crafts and activities. The activities/stations included: a lemonade/iced tea booth, guess the
number of jelly beans contest, make your own friendship bracelet,
decorate a peep contest, flower pot painting and tissue paper flowers
making. Residents were able to visit each booth, and have a passport stamped
at each activity once successfully completed. Residents who completed
all activities were then entered into a drawing for a free lock-out. The activities offered a wide variety of types of events for residents
to participate in. At the friendship bracelet station, residents
could create bracelets or anklets with a variety of beads. The Flower
Pot painting station allowed residents to paint a ceramic flower pot
to go in their room. At the Tissue Paper Flower station, a Hall
Council member taught residents how to create spectacular flowers with
just a few sheets of tissue paper and a pipe cleaner. The "Decorate
Your Peep" station challenged residents to decorate a peep in one of
four categories (Fashionista, Profession, Winthrop Pride and Beach).
The entries were then posted in the lobby and the entire WU community
was asked to vote for their favorite! Word Count: 227 |

| Goals of the program: The goals of the program were to encourage residents to take a break
from studying and interact with one another. The Spring Festival was
designed to create a fun, enjoyable atmosphere that would kick off the
second half of the semester, and celebrate the new warm weather we
were experiencing!Word Count: 50 |
|
| Positive and lasting effects of the program: Residents all indicated they had a wonderful time a the Spring
Festival. They each were able to walk away with a craft that they
made and keep in their room to remind them of spring, as well as the
time they spent interacting with one another. Residents who do not
normally interact with one another visited at the stations. The peep
contest displayed the creativity of our residents to the entire campus
and residents had conversations with each other about their favorites!Word Count: 82 |

| Short evaluation of the program: Overall, this program was very successful. Residents enjoyed
themselves immensely and we had great turnout. Residents were able to
come and go and spend as much time as they could afford. The Hall
Council was very involved in this program, and each member of the
council was able to contribute by running various stations of the
event. The only thing that didn't work out great was it started to
rain about half way through the event, but we were able to continue it
under the cover of our front porch.Word Count: 90 |

| How could this program be adapted to other campuses? This program is easily adaptable to other campuses. The materials
needed are simply the supplies for each of the stations, as well as
some tables to set up as stations. Any RA or Hall Council could
brainstorm various activities and implement them for a fun and
flexible activity!Word Count: 48 |
