| Origin of Program: To Dye For was apart of Marlatt Hall's WTF (Where's the Fun?!), which
was designed for six major programs in the first six weeks of school.
This idea began at staff meeting before school started as a way to sell
plain white Marlatt t-shirts and then come together to tie-dye them as
a
group. Word Count: 55 |
|
| Please give a short description of the program: To Dye For was scheduled for Saturday, September 20, as a way for
residents to interact with the staff, other students, and to make a
Marlatt t-shirt. There was five different colors to choose from, two
folding tables, and water buckets. Aaron Trent, a former resident
assistant, came to help instruct. Students came at many different
times and learned how to tie-dye with different designs and hang out
with their floor. Word Count: 72 |
|
| Goals of the program: The original goals of this program were to teach residents how to
tie-dye, as well as interact with one another and be involved in the
hall. To have 80 people present was the ultimate goal, and 100
residents showed up. The materials were plentiful, and with the help
of the other resident assistants, clean up and set up time was
efficient and quick. Word Count: 64 |
|
| Positive and lasting effects of the program: The residents who tie-dyed went away with a Marlatt shirt of their
own, and many times people would tie dye one item, go back and get
another one to tie dye. That also encouraged more people to join in
on
the fun, and resulted with people learning together and interacting
together. Word Count: 52 |
|
| Short evaluation of the program: This program was a huge success. With proper planning, this program
went smooth and without trouble. Katie did an awesome job of
instructing the other resident assistants of their duties, which
included bringing tables and trash cans for the program. During
tie-dying, different resident assistants helped with instructing,
while others helped with maintenance of finished products. Word Count: 57 |
|
| How could this program be adapted to other campuses? This program could have been used as a diversity program in the fact
that everyone has different ideas of what tie-dye is. Everyone has
different opinions and there is no wrong way to do something, which
brings a team together. Word Count: 41 |
