| Origin of Program: The Strong female Resident Assistants were prompted by an
informational presentation made by
Mary Todd during staff training about the women's center and the risk
of rape on campus. The
female RAs decided they wanted to make an even bigger impression on
the female residents of
the Strong Complex. Word Count: 50 |

| Please give a short description of the program: In an effort to reach out to residents, this program was initially
advertised as a social party
hosted in Boyd Hall. The girls entered the lobby greeted by the
female RAs. The two male RAs
served mixed, non-alcoholic drinks along with nachos and other
various snacks. YouTube
music videos were played on a projector and screen to provide a
dance party atmosphere.
After a while, the music videos were interrupted by an anonymous
video interview of a man
describing how he would take advantage of females at parties in his
fraternity house. When
the video was finished, Mary Todd, Director of the KSU Women's
Center, briefed the residents
on what they had just viewed and followed up with an open
discussion. As Mary Todd finished
up, she reminded the girls to pick up resources and educational
pamphlets at the back of the
room to share with their friends. Word Count: 149 |

| Goals of the program: The female RAs felt it was necessary to provide this program to the
female residents in
Strong Complex with education on an uncomfortable subject in a safe
area. The RAs had
several goals to be carried out by the program. For instance, it was
important to the RAs to
express the risks that can come along with partying on a college
campus. They also wanted
the girls to be aware of the occurrence of rape in multiple
situations and how to deal with
them if it were to happen to them or a friend. Finally, it was
important to provide the
residents with resources to find out more information or for
somewhere to go if they need
help. Word Count: 119 |
|
| Positive and lasting effects of the program: Because the girls were able to experience the "trickery" of this
seemingly harmless, social
program they were able to leave the program, greatly impacted by the
truth in what Mary
Todd had to say. The were also more apt to share what had occurred
that night with their
friends, increasing the awareness in Strong Complex.Word Count: 55 |
|
| Short evaluation of the program: The program was a success to the female RAs because there were
several girls who attended
that have now changed in their perspective of partying, and are now
more cautious of their
surroundings. The RAs were able to hear residents talking about the
program several days
after the program, which was reassuring. The attendance was more
than expected, and the
girls enjoyed their experience. Word Count: 65 |

| How could this program be adapted to other campuses? This program is flexible for just about any campus, but it might
have to be adjusted relative
to their resources on campus. Word Count: 23 |
