Please explain the outstanding contributions of the nominee during the month of nomination

Program title: There's No Place Like Home...Made Ice Cream!

During this program, residents made homemade ice cream using zip lock bags and hamster balls. With those hamster balls, residents bowled. The pins were plastic bottles from the recycling.

This program promoted community development while educating residents about our recycling initiative. This was the first event hosting by the Andrews Hall Council. From the very beginning, each member of the executive board was excited and motivated to make this program a success. They worked together to create catchy advertisements, talked about the program during opening and with residents, and made every step of the planning process a success.

Having an ice cream social for the opening program is a tradition in Andrews Hall. However, this year, the program soared above expectations. Because residents made their own ice cream and bowled in the process, residents stayed in the lobby and socialized with others. The executive board was able to mingle with students and promote hall council involvement.

Andrews Hall is also piloting a new recycling initiative this year with each room having its own recycling container. During this program, recycling was discussed, residents were made aware of what those bins are for, and a general excitement about recycling and making a difference emerged.

Overall this program was one that has helped set the tone for Andrews Hall. We are strong women that will support each other and the world around us.
