came out of an idea for an end of the semester party in a hall counsel meeting

Poker night was an 2 hour event where residents were able to play texas holdem and blackjack for prizes. a wing and nacho bar was provided

Goals of the program were to get residents out and having fun before finals

created new friendships among residents and allowed residents to learn to play poker in an non-cash atmosphere

Short evaluation of the program:

Program went fantastic. original plan was for 50-75 people but over 80 drifted in and out through out the night. there was almost never a line for any of the tables so if you wanted to play you were able to play which ever game you were interested in.

How could this program be adapted to other campuses?

very easily! all you would need is some poker chips and a few decks of cards and a fun atmosphere to play!
